TBM Technical Analyst

Our client is looking for a TBM Technical Analyst for a 12-month contract to hire opportunity in the San Francisco area. This position will be focused on managing and administrating the TBM tool.

Job Description:

Technology Business Management Administrator (TBMA) is responsible for the ownership of the cost transparency tool, the data it represents, the methodology for cost allocations, and the use of such data. The TBMA drives continuous improvement of data and cost distribution methodologies through a series of operations processes meant to govern and control data efficiency management. In addition to tool ownership, the TBMA is responsible for all configuration, testing, and deployment of cost transparency and metric reporting. Reporting to the Technology Business Management Executive (TBME), the TBMA will also be responsible for aligning cost transparency to the OCIO and IT vision.


  • Oversee high-level reporting configuration and deployment within Apptio and function as the liaison between key stakeholders to interpret and deliver insights to meet business needs.
  • Configuring the data model, building out the data model in their code due to being a SAS product, optimizing data model, coordinating new data interfaces, maintaining the data model, controlling the data piece.
  • Serves as the TBM reporting Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all cost transparency and Apptio reporting/data related questions/issues, while executing monthly financial reporting for key stakeholders.
  • Monitor/maintain processes to improve and optimize data accuracy and research and resolve problems; recommend and implement (where applicable) modifications to the processes.
  • Must be able to provide business/financial advice to executives, controllers and directors on business management related matters
  • Continuously improve existing TBM office framework, model, taxonomy and metrics and partner with Technology Executives, Service and Application Owners, Finance representatives and functional Lines of Business leaders to understand needs and refine strategic TBM roadmap.
  • Work closely with corporate accounting and IT finance to collect and prepare monthly GL extracts and act as the definitive finance subject matter expert for team.
  • Oversee and manage the configuration, design, testing and deployment of the Apptio Cost Transparency and Cloud Cost Management Application dashboards, reports and underlying data models.
  • Work with the Architecture team to develop annual service offering standard rates (Future State).
  • Serve as technical point of contact for Apptio resolve technical and data quality issues and facilitate testing for Apptio release updates.
  • Foster an innovative culture, where team members regardless of tenure or experience level are encouraged to shape work outcomes.

Required experience:

  • TBMA certification required/TBME certification preferred
  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business or related field
  • Strong financial experience (i.e. Budget Planning and Cost Reporting)
  • 2-5 years of experience with TBM tool and Apptio
